Oh Shoes....

...the reason I am constantly broke. Although these didn't cost me any cash out of pocket, because I had a mall gift card! I had been eyeing these Nine West ballet flats for a while, but refused to pay $80 for them. I watched the price drop to $50, then $39.99, and I decided that that was reasonable (especially with a gift card).

The color of these suede with gold leather trim shoes is actually a bit more vibrant in reality than in the image; it's more of a bright fuschia than a dark pink. They look fabulous with narrow, straight-leg jeans, and can actually be worn with more clothing than one would think.

I believe my next purchase is going to be a larger shoe rack...

In my search for saddle shoes and customized bowling shirts, I came across this fun website. Bowlingshirt.com is a great resource for all those sock hops you have to go to. I wish I had known about it weeks ago when I actually did go to a sock hop.

They have a great selection of customizable bowling shirts, poodle skirts/outfits, and saddle shoes, all reasonably priced. I'm awaiting an order of bowling shirts that I purchased for a birthday present. When those come in and I get to see the quality, I just may order some saddle shoes. I wish I had a reason to order a poodle skirt outfit, but I Just can't justify it, unfortunately.

Deal of the Week

I have been looking for a nice pair of glitter shoes for a while now, and by nice I mean not horribly tacky, and made well so that they don't leave a trail of glitter behind. I kind of gave up a couple months ago, because all of the glitter shoes I had found were awful.
This past weekend I took another trip to the Marshalls in Lincoln where I found the Betsey Johnson heels, and I was not dissappointed. I got these Michael Kors gunmetal glitter ballet flats on clearance for $15 ($98 retail)! I know that they are walking that fine line between awesome and awful, but I think the shape is a little more elegant than others I have seen. I'm pretty confident I can work 'em.

Vegas, Here I Come!

I know these are totally insane, but they were impossible to pass up.

I went to Marshall's at the Lincoln Mall for the first time today. They have one of those "shoe megastores" inside it, and this was by far the best one I've seen. They have a huge clearance section where I found these gems, sparkling upon the top shelf. Upon first glance I thought, "wow, those are kind amazing." Upon futher inspection, I realized what a treasure they truly were.

Not only were these red satin, rhinestoned, strappy stiletto-heeled sandals, they were BETSEY JOHNSON red satin, rhinestoned, strappy stiletto-heeled sandals! Originally priced at $170, I got these babies for $30. I had to get them for the principal of the matter. They couldn't just sit there on the shelf of a Marshall's in Lincoln, Rhode Island whose residents have no appreciation for such gold. This entry should be subtitled "Diary of a Shoe Addict."

Of course, I have nothing to wear with them, or a place to wear them, but that can be arranged. Or else I can save them for my future as a Vegas showgirl.

Excess.

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new Converse. They're beautiful. Of course I don't need them. Internet shopping is a dangerous thing.

New Kicks

While on a recent trip to New York, I came across these AMAZING Nike Vandals. Of course, there was only one pair left, and they were about to be purchased by a European gay man. I went into pretty much every shoe store in Manhattan looking for them, to no avail.

Through the wonders of Ebay, I was able to find these beauties when I got home for half the price! I'm finally wearing them today (about a month later) because I realized after impulsively purchasing them that, although they are beautiful, they don't really match a thing I own. These shoes are worth building an outfit or two around.

Filling the Void

My Monday evenings are usually filled with three hours of dance, which sadly, I won't have again until September. What do I do with my free time this Monday evening? Be productive and make art, maybe? No! Of course, I went shopping. I fell prey to the buzz about Sarah Jessica Parker's new clothing line, Bitten, carried only at Steve and Barry's department stores. The lure of this line is that every piece in the collection is less than $20, and they carry up to a size 22.

The nearest Steve and Barry's is at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton, MA. So I went on a mini trek to Taunton. The Bitten collection was surprisingly large, ranging from accessories to formal dresses. They even have a selection of pretty well-made bathing suits for only $7.98! Most of the collection consists of basic tees, pants, hoodies, and blouses. The larger sizes weren't available in every style, but word has it the Fall collection will be more extensive in sizes and styles.

I was VERY impressed with the fit of the pants....I would have bought one in every style if I had the money/need for them. I have a very hard time finding pants that fit correctly, and was able to find a great pair of jeans that met all of my requirements: the correct rise, a dark rinse, not too long for my short legs, a straight leg, and not too big in the hips. All this for only $14.98! The picture doesn't do them justice. I also found a very cute tee for $7.98.
